Maine CDC reports one new coronavirus-related death, 23 new cases

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported one new coronavirus-related death on Wednesday and 23 additional cases.

The new death was reported in Somerset County and brings the total number of Mainers with COVID-19 who have died to 138. The person who died was a resident at the Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Living Center in Madison where a total of six people have died.

The outbreak at Maplecrest is linked to the outbreak involving the wedding and reception in the Millinocket area in August. A total of 176 cases and seven deaths are linked to the wedding outbreak.

The additional 23 cases bring the total since the outbreak began to 4,941.

A total of 4,307 Mainers have recovered from the virus, which is an increase of 27 over the past 24 hours.

Active cases decreased from 501 on Tuesday to 496 on Wednesday.

Aroostook County has 42 cases, of those two are active.
