PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - The Presque Isle Rotary club is looking for heroes in the community.

The Community Service Heroes Campaign is focused on showcasing people within Aroostook County that are making a positive impact through service.

The call for Community Service Heroes is the first of three parts of the Great Big Give Back initiative, which is a COVID-19 replacement project for Rotary’s annual auction.

It is being used to shed light on community volunteers and inspire others to serve. Rotary Club member, Rachel Rice, says that this is a great opportunity for the people here in the county.

“I think we have a really good group of volunteers here in Aroostook County, and we really want to showcase that. So, we are asking for people to share with us what their community service is, to pledge community service hours. Part of this social media campaign that we are doing, we are asking people to nominate somebody that they think is an amazing community volunteer.”

At the end of the campaign, the Rotary Club will showcase three volunteers. The club is asking for hero stories to be submitted on Facebook by September 24th. The following is a post put out by the Rotary Club on Facebook:

In times like these, we tend to take a moment and reflect on our fellow community members who are working hard to help...
