Northern Light Health is notifying patients of a computer breach that occurred earlier this year.

Northern Light Health A.R. Gould Hospital was notified by Blackbaud, an outside contractor, that it was one of thousands of hospitals, healthcare systems, colleges and universities, and other nonprofits across the world — and one of several organizations in Maine — to be affected by an information security incident that involves its fundraising databases.

The information affected included some limited patient information. Officials believe the information was not used inappropriately. No banking or Social Security information was included in this data. Northern Light has contracted with Experian to assist potentially affected patients. Letters were sent to patients explaining what happened and a number to call.

For more information, call the dedicated assistance line at (877) 339-1548. Callers will not be asked for their Social Security number or date of birth if they call this number. They may be asked for their first and last name, but they do not need to provide this information unless they would like to do so.

The return address on the letter sent to patients is Pennsylvania because this is the state where Experian is located. The dedicated assistance line is available between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday. To be sure they understand you are referring to Northern Light Health, callers may need to share the reference Number DB21847.
