The Gateway Bridge in Houlton Has Fresh Lights this Fall
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -The Gateway Bridge in Houlton has received a fresh set of lights
The original lights were installed six years ago, and some blubs had started to burn out. Three volunteers took Thursday afternoon off from work to remove and replace the light strands with new LED lights.
“People have really paid attention to the park and we’re quite proud of it. And we were briefly thinking about taking the lights off the bridge because they’re hard to maintain and you have to get a crew that will take a whole afternoon off to take the old ones down and put the new ones up. And somebody told me you know this is what we think of when we think of Houlton now, is that bridge" says Jane Torres, Executive Director of the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce
The cost of the project was around 1,000 dollars. Torres adds, the purchase of the new lights was made possible by a grant from Putnam Trust.
