Aroostook Huskies Debut Lisa’s Boneyard
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -
Located on route 1 in Presque Isle is Lisa’s Boneyard.
This is the name of the brand new home football field for the Aroostook Huskies football team.
Head coach of the Huskies Taylor DeFelice is entering his 17th season. This field has been something he’s wanted to see since his days as a player.
(Taylor DeFelice) : "Very excited. Program has been around...think this is the 17th season you know I missed the very first one but 2 years as a player and I’ve been coaching since I graduated high school. So i’ve been around for pretty much the entirety of this so to have our own home now is very exciting.
The privilege of having a home field can not be understated. Huskies football players will be able to become accustomed to this field and hopefully create more buzz for the football program moving forward.
(TD): " I think it’s huge. Not having to rely on other recs or schools to let us use fields. I also think as far as attracting new people...The lights going...you know people driving by maybe get some new people interested stopping by and hopefully we can get the fever for football growing in the County."
(Dominik Poisson): "We can practice more. It instills a sense of you want to go out there you want to put in more work. You want to be the best you can be every night. It just show hardwork and dedication can pay off
(Aiden Hanks): "It’s so important because home field advantage is a thing and we know this field better than them. Our old field we knew it but it was very unpredictable so having a steady field that we can use all the time is just so much better for us.
Monday night, the Huskies and Houlton Shiretowners competed on Lisa’s Boneyard for the first time.
The Huskies pulled off a 30-27 win on the final play of the game...a 20-yard TD pass to Connor Rideout.
Just as they drew it up.
