CARIBOU, Maine (WAGM) - They’re sometimes referred to as the glue that holds the hospital together, from admitting patients all the way to discharging them.

“It’s really just making sure that everybody has everything they need from all the nuts and bolts from the insurance companies to disciplines here to everything that they need at discharge.”

Sherry Wright, Director of Case Management

Sherry Wright is the Director of Case Management at Cary Medical Center. She says COVID-19 has made their jobs difficult.

“It’s affected all the nursing homes, the home care agencies. So if there is any potential risk there may be a COVID patient then they want to make sure their staff is protected as well. So sometimes it makes that discharge planning a little bit more difficult.”

Cary has taken this week to show appreciation for all the case managers.

“We’ve done some breakfast for them, we’re going to be having them a special lunch. We’ve also done a little special TLC this year with some massage therapy.”

Wright says it’s important in these difficult times to show your appreciation to those working on the frontlines.
