Wisdom Claims Aroostook League Division 2 Girls Soccer title.
St Agatha, Maine (WAGM) -The Wisdom Pioneers picked up the Aroostook League Division 2 girls soccer title on Wednesday. The soccer seas did not feature a regional or State tournament this year, but two teams were still playing for hardware. The Aroostok League put together an eight game regular season schedule and then two rounds of playoff games. With the top four teams meeting in the semifinals and the two winners then playing for the title. It was the third meeting of the year between the Ashland Hornets and Wisdom Pioneers.. The players at times appeared to have skates on because of the snow on the field.
The game was scoreless at the half and then in the second half Kayla McClain scored for the Hornets before Olivia Ouellette scored the tying goal from Abby Lerman.
This game went through two overtimes and was decided on penalty kicks. The Pioneers made four penalty kicks while Emma Chamberlain allowed just one in for the Hornets. Wisdom claims the title. The score goes into the record books as a 2-1 win.
