Golfing in November
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Barry Madore:" It’s one of the busiest November days it is like a day in September when the weather is 65 or 70 degrees. We have had 60 or 65 people out there playing today."
Madore says that last month was quite slow because of cold temperatures and last year on this date no one was on the course because of precipiation and temperatures in the high 30′s then on November 11th and 12 the snow game and that was the end of the season. He said today he saw a lot of smiles.
Madore:" The course is in really good shape and the golfers are out to play. They know that this coming weekend is going to get cold again. We even have people out there playing in shorts."
Curt Culberson was one of the golfers in shorts he was golfing with Cal Deschene and Steve McGlinn. The three of them golf with a larger group that gets together throughout the season.
(Curt Culberson):" This is very unreal for me normally any other year we are done the first or second week of October. This is all bonus weather for us here."
You could see how busy it was at the course with several cars in the parking lot and in the cart shed parking lot. Delaney Grass and her father Troy were happy to get in another round together.
(Delaney Grass):" When I woke up this morning I didn’t expect to be out here golfing, but I am happy that we are. It’s very special. It is super fun to be out here. It is a nice day and I didn’t get to do much golfing this summer. "
(Troy Grass):"It is great to be out here today. Who would have thought this weather this late in the year. It is wonderful to be here."
Troy says it was even better to get what could be one final round with Delaney this year.
Grass:" It is the last chance because she is moving away this weekend."
It looks like the course could be busy for the next few days before closing for the season at the end of the day Friday.
Madore:" This is all bonus golf and bonus income for the club."
