PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Even though they can’t be home for thanksgiving, fire departments are still celebrating.

Captain Danny Raymond of Caribou Fire says that they invited their families to the department for a thanksgiving meal.

“Well it means a lot to us as you know we work 24 hour shifts so it’s nice to have our families come in and join us for thanksgiving and it’s actually a break for the wives cause they don’t have to cook for us so we actually get to cook for them and we do the dishes and we do all the cooking here.”

Even while enjoying their Thanksgiving meal the department was still on standby for any fire or ambulance calls they’d receive.
