Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Houlton hosted its annual Thanksgiving Day feast
Things did look a little different this year. Instead of a sit-down dinner, people were able to drive thru and pick up a homemade meal. Organizers say while a lot of work goes into this yearly event, they’re thankful to be able to give back.
“We started yesterday cooking yesterday and what not and then we kept them in heated containers and yeah we’re a little tied but then when we saw the line and when we were rushing to get the stuff out, it gave us a wonderful feeling. We’re so thrilled that people came to get a meal. We planned on 300 meals this year, by golly this is all that we have left and they are still coming, so we know that there is a need out there.” says, Deacon Al Burleigh.
They’re hopeful that next year things will be back to normal and everyone can enjoy their meals together.
