Presque Isle Recreation Department takes it outside over Christmas break.
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - I’ts Christmas break for youngsters and that means some time to relax and enjoy some well deserved time off. Many youngsters are looking to stay active this week and normally the Presque Isle Recreation Department is a very busy place, but this year the Rec Department is taking it outside with morning snow shoe hikes at Mantle Lake Park.
Andrew Perry:” Typically in years past we had a lot of indoor events at the Community Center for the kids who are on break. This year is a little different we are trying to promote some outdoor activities rather than having people gather inside. We thought that snow shoe at Mantle fit the bill pretty well.”
The Department is supplying the snow shoes for youngsters who want to take part in the hike. The trails are not perfect, but it is a chance to give it a try
Perry:” A little discouraging with the rain over Christmas and the rainy weather has stifled the conditions. We do still have some snow on the ground and anybody who would like to come out we are here and would love to have you try it out.”
This project is just another way for youngsters to enjoy a Northern Maine Winter.
Perry:” We are trying to promote getting outside and enjoying the outdoors.”
