UMPI Softball to Play a Play-in Game on Friday
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - The University of Maine Presque Isle softball team won 13 games in a row, but that streak was halted this weekend. And after losing three games against Thomas College, the UMPI softball team put themselves in a small predicament. However, they are preparing to rebound.
“Our winning percentage was actually higher but not by a lot and since head-to-head, they kind of had it over us, but they also had a couple of games they weren’t able to get in due to bad circumstances so both schools, administrators, coaches, the championship committee for the NAC, we all decided we’re going to decide it on the field,” said Head Coach Alissa Edwards.
The Owls will play Thomas in a single play-in game at home on Friday. This will be one of the Owls first ever home playoff games.
“I think the girls are amped up. I’m amped up,” said Edwards. “You know, we learned a lot last weekend. We kind of picked apart our weaknesses that we’re turning into our strengths now. So we’re ready, we’re fired up and getting ready to go on Friday.”
The winner will then play Husson on Sunday in a best of three series for the East NAC Championship.
