AUGUSTA, Maine —

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported an increase of 106 COVID-19 cases on Thursday and 10 new deaths.

The additional cases bring the total since the beginning of the outbreak last year to 67,986.

The number of Mainers with COVID-19 who have died is now 837. Androscoggin County reported four new deaths, while Aroostook, Cumberland, Kennebec, Oxford, Penobscot and Somerset counties each reported one new death.

Large increases in deaths are typically the results of the Maine CDC reviewing death certificates filed with the state.

The Maine CDC reported that 707,643 Mainers, or 52.64% of the population, have received a final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Aroostook County has 2 new cases, bringing the total to 1,871.
