Maine CDC reports 71 additional COVID-19 cases, 1 new death

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported an increase of 71 COVID-19 cases on Friday and one new death.

The additional cases bring the total since the beginning of the outbreak last year to 68,057.

The number of Mainers with COVID-19 who have died is now 838. Androscoggin County reported one new death.

The Maine CDC reported that 711,651 Mainers, or 52.94% of the population, have received a final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The state also reached a new milestone Friday, with 60% of eligible Mainers having received their final vaccine dose.

Aroostook County has 2 new cases, bringing the total to 1,873.
