Fort Fairfield Police Chief resigns

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine (WAGM) - Shawn Newell, Fort Fairfield Police Chief, has resigned.
Fort Fairfield Town Manager, Andrea Powers says, “Shawn Newell has resigned as the Chief of Police for Fort Fairfield and I have accepted his resignation.”
Powers adds, “We will be advertising for a new Police Chief and there is no interim named at this time.”
WAGM reached out to Newell for a comment on the matter, and he declined to comment. Newell was originally placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the Attorney General’s office.
There is no additional information regarding the investigation at this time.
