PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - The United Way of Aroostook is having a “Day of Service” on June 23rd.

“So we will be gardening at some places, painting at others and we have a big clothing project,” said United Way of Aroostook Executive Director Sarah Ennis. “We have a lot of donated clothing that is going to go to ACAP. We are storing it right now and that clothing is going to go out to families for free in Aroostook County and we have a lot of moving to do. "

Ennis said most of the United Way of Aroostook’s projects will be in Presque Isle this year, but they encourage everyone from the county to participate.

“Volunteering in your community is so important and having a day where you can get together with other people that work at other businesses and really come together to serve your community and give back is such a great day and a great thing to do.,” Ennis said.

Ennis said United Ways across Maine will also take part.

“They are all going to do that same week and do different drives and community projects for people to do so, on June 23rd, it won’t just be in Aroostook County there will be people all over the state volunteering in their communities,” Ennis said.

If you would like to donate some time, you can reach out to the United Way at 764-5197 or email Sarah Ennis.
