EASTON, Maine (WAGM) - It’s an exciting time for folks at the Easton School as one of their own is being honored by the National Federation of State High School Association, also known as NFSH. Every year NFSH seeks nominations across the country. Only two names from each state get submitted and from there, one person is chosen for the state after an application process. This year the Maine Music Educators Association nominated Easton Music Director Pam Kinsey who was chosen as Maine’s state winner of the NFHS 2023-24 Music Outstanding Educator Award.

The President of the Maine Music Educators Association, Andrew Forster, says, “This year we thought Pam Kinsey was a wonderful example of an educational leader. She’s been a leader within her region of the state. She’s a terrific educator. And she’s an amazing musician so that’s kind of the full package.”

Kinsey says, “When you are a department of one it’s kind of like being an island and so it’s not like I’m in a department where I get recognition outwardly from others in my department because it’s just me. To have this recognition from my peers in music education in a state where there are incredible music educators was really very overwhelming.”

Kinsey will be recognized for her achievement at the Maine Music Educators Association conference in May
