A child was injured in a rollover on the Washburn Road Saturday

WASHBURN, Maine - A 6-year-old child was injured in a rollover crash Saturday on the Washburn Road.

Deputy Jesse Belanger, of the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office, was called around 9:45 Saturday morning to assist the Washburn Police Department with a rollover crash that occurred about 3 miles northeast of town on the Washburn Road. Upon arrival, investigating officers determined that 45-year-old Dawn Brooker, of Washburn, was driving a 2009 Chevy Venture van, heading east, when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled over several times before coming to rest on the passenger side.

During the accident, Brooker's 6-year-old child, who was sitting in a child safety seat, was ejected from the vehicle. Crown Ambulance transported the child to Northern Light AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle for non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage. The investigation is ongoing.
