PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Since we had an inversion that produced temperatures as low as twenty degrees below zero early yesterday morning, I couldn't resist trying a boiling water experiment in the frigid cold!
"It's 11 degrees below zero so let's see if we can get a short-lived cloud. And we did! It worked okay, we still have a little bit of water that reached the surface. Temperature and relative humidity not exactly perfect enough for the experiment but, you can see, we still have a cloud out there, so, it did work."
If you want to try the experiment yourself in below-zero temperatures, be sure to protect your hands and toss the water away from your body. Even in the cold environment, any water that reaches the ground or touches you could still result in a burn.
