CONNOR, ME. (WAGM) --A barn fire erupted on Van Buren Road in Connor Township. Caribou Fire Department responded to a report of a barn fire where the roof of the barn became engulfed in flames. Officials described the fire as stubborn because the areas inside the barn they were trying to get extinguished were small and tough to get to. Limestone, Stockholm, Van Buren, and Fort Fairfield Fire Departments provided mutual aid. Captain of the Caribout Fire Department Brian Lajoie was on the scene and described the trouble they were having dealing with the barn fire.

"On arrival the structure was starting to vent out through the roof with flames, our initial challenge when we got here was water supply because they're so far away from the hydrant district but we were finally able to get a good water supply going with the surrounding towns that we called in for mutual aid," said Lajoie.

The firefighters were able to get the fire under control and determined the cause of the fire was electrical. The home attached to the barn was not damaged and there were no injuries reported.
