Grand Jury Indictments February 2018

AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine - On February 8, 2018, the Aroostook County Grand Jury completed its 2nd session of 2018 and handed down 35 indictments against 34 individuals with 0 “no bills.”

The indictments included 37 year old James Peaslee of Easton. Peaslee was charged in connection with the death of Paul Hilenski of Bridgewater. Authorities received a 911 call from Hilenski's home and arrived to find his body inside. He had been shot and killed. They arrested Peaslee in Easton the next morning. He was indicted on murder.

20 year old Joseph Dobbins of Houlton was arrested in December after the Houlton Police Department says they were dispatched to the Foxcroft Road over the weekend for a reported dispute.
Officers say they arrived at the scene and saw an ongoing verbal argument. During the investigation, police say Dobbins became uncooperative and confrontational. They say he became threatening and physical with the officers. Police unsuccessfully attempted to restrain Dobbins, eventually deploying the Electronic Weapon System. Dobbins was indicted on assault on an officer, refusing to submit and criminal mischief.

Also indicted were 39 year old Katherine Boisvert, 19 year old MichelleLiz Pene and 32 yea rold Emilio Gonell-Poventud, all of Connecticut. The trio was arrested in December after an investigation between the MDEA and Aroostook Sheriff's Deputies. Police pulled over the suspected car the three were traveling in. They say one of the females in the vehicle had drugs concealed in a body cavity. The female was taken to a local emergency room where approximately 70 grams of crack cocaine was removed by hospital staff.They have all been indicted on aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs.

41 year old Melissa Sawyer of Linneus has been indicted for arson. Police say Sawyer, along with two others, torched a 2012 Kentworth tractor back in 2016 for insurance proceeds.

33 year old Amanda Tompkins of Fort Fairfield was arrested after police received video evidence of her using stolen credit and debit cards. The cards belonged to victims who had filed complaints that their vehicles had been ransacked. She was indicted on burglary of motor vehicles, theft with priors and criminal trespassing.

29 year old Nicole Hall was arrested in connection with a string of burglaries. Houlton police responded to a call of an intruder attempting to enter a residence. After a brief confrontation with the home owner, the suspect left the area on foot, leaving behind a vehicle in the driveway. The vehicle was later determined to have been stolen. While looking for the suspect, an officer was approached by a resident who said their 2008 GMC pick-up was stolen from their yard. A few moments later, another officer was able to make contact with Hall who was in possession of the stolen truck. She was indicted on three counts of criminal trespassing, two counts of theft and operating after revocation.

39 year old Leslie Phelps was indicted on domestic violence assault with priors. Police received a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in Island Falls. They found Phelps and the victim were both at the home at the time of the incident. The victim sustained injuries but declined medical treatment.
