McCain Foods US Releases Statement Regarding Recall of Hash Browns

By  |

The following statement is below:

McCain Foods USA, Inc. is voluntarily recalling frozen hash brown products sold and distributed under the Roundy’s and Harris Teeter private label retail brand that may be contaminated with extraneous golf ball materials, that despite our stringent supply standards may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make this product. We believe the cause might be that the field where the potatoes were harvested was adjacent to a golf course. Consumption of these products may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury to the mouth.

There have been no reported injuries associated with the consumption of this product.

Food safety remains a top priority for McCain Foods USA, Inc. and we have full confidence that all appropriate steps are being taken to protect our consumers. McCain is working cooperatively with the FDA along with Roundy’s and Harris Teeter to ensure the affected product is removed from the marketplace.

We ask that consumers return the affected product to the store of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with concerns or questions about the recall should contact McCain Foods USA, Inc., at 630-857-4533 (Monday – Sunday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST).

For more information about the products involved in the recall, please see the press release located on the right.
