Power restored to 3,000 people in Aroostook County

AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine - 9:30 a.m. update: According to Emera Maine, a piece of equipment failed Tuesday evening and damaged other equipment at a substation.

At the peak of the outage, 3,000 customers were without service. Within an hour, the number fell to 1,300 customers without power. The last customer was back online at approximately 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.


Emera Maine says they are working to restore power for nearly 3,000 customers.

Emera says line workers are working to fix the issue and will remain onsite assessing the cause of the outage and making the necessary repairs until power is fully restored.

According to their Live Outage & Restoration Map, the outage is due to an issue with the transmission equipment.

They have not yet specified what has caused the outages.
