One dead following crash in Hancock County

TOWNSHIP 54, Maine - State Police say one man died late Wednesday morning on a remote road in Township 34 in Hancock County.

The victim -- Gary Haskell, 53, of Lowell, Maine was travelling on the Morrison Ridge Road in his GMC Sierra pickup when it went off the road, hit a number of trees and overturned on its roof.

Haskell sustained severe trauma and injuries and died at the scene.

Haskell’s passenger, 47 year old Pamela Ireland, also of Lowell, was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center for non life threatening injuries.

Haskell and Ireland were not wearing seat belts.

Speed and alcohol appear to be a factors in the crash.

Responding to the crash site were a team of troopers, forest rangers and game wardens along with personnel from Milford and Burlington Fire Departments and Northern Light Medical Transport Ambulance.
