There are more than 500 homes without power in Aroostook County this evening. According to Emera Maine, crews have been working throughout the day to restore power. This is the second windstorm in two weeks to affect the electrical system in Maine. Currently Aroostook County has the most homes without power, with more than 950 homes state wide waiting for power to be restored. Thousands of homes across Penobscot and Hancock Counties have already been restored. Emera is not giving an expected time or date for everyone to have their power back. But they are reminding the public to never touch a downed power line or tree in contact with a downed line. Motorists are also urged to slow down or move over and change lanes when possible if utility crews are working on roadways. And anyone using a generator or an alternate heating source is reminded to follow all manufacturer guidelines. An updated outage map can be found on emera's website.
