PRESQUE ISLE, ME-- UPDATE: Police say the attack was captured on surveillance cameras inside the shelter, which clearly showed the events unfolding.
According to police, at around 8:30 this morning, phone calls led them directly to the suspect. They say they took Bertrand into custody without incident on the State Road near Skyway Street.
Police say no weapons were found on Bertrand and he has been charged with aggravated assault. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
The Presque Isle Police have apprehended stabbing suspect 65 year old Daniel Bertrand as of 9 AM Tuesday morning.
According to PIPD Detective Kris Beck, the investigation and search for Bertrand continued throughout the morning hours of Tuesday. Beck says the police department fielded numerous calls from the public.
In addition, Northern Maine Community College was closed as the investigation continued.
