T10 R3, Maine - State Fire Marshals and Maine Forest Rangers say a Presque Isle man was arrested this week and charged in connection with a fire that destroyed a large truck parked along a woods road in northern Maine in September. Spencer Goodine, 27, of Presque Isle is charged with arson, burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. He was arrested Tuesday at his home and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the Aroostook County Jail.
On September 3, Fire Marshal Investigators and Forest Rangers responded to the Bogan Brook Road in T10 R3, near Westfield. A service truck for a woods operation being run by TNT Road Company of Fort Kent had been destroyed by fire and a large amount of tools on the truck had been stolen. A small woods fire had also occurred as a result of the fire. The value of the truck and the stolen equipment was estimated at $100,000. Investigators determined the fire was arson.
The service truck was a 2002 Sterling M8500 Diesel and contained thousands of dollars worth of tools, parts, supplies, fuel and gear to support a timber operation. Among the equipment stolen was a Miller Trailblazer 302 Airpak Model 907376 Welder/Generator/Compressor.
The joint investigation resulted in the recovery of the stolen compressor and some of the tools and supplies taken from the truck. Many of the stolen tools and equipment are still missing and Investigators are asking the public for help in locating them.
