Large turnout for second annual Caribou Marathon
The second annual Caribou Marathon was held this past weekend.
Almost 400 runners across several divisions came out to participate and even more community members gathered to show their support.
"I've run a lot of races in my day and the Caribou community was awesome getting me through the 13 miles," said Marie Beckum, who ran in the half marathon.
The big difference this year was the design of the courses. Organizers made the course a little more flat, but challenging at the same time.
Kevin Alliette was the big winner as he won the marathon in a time of 2 hours and 49 minutes.
He lives about a marathon length away from Boston and will finally have his chance to run in the Boston Marathon.
"Everyone from my area says that Boston is the dream for a marathon runner or any runner," said Alliette. "Hopefully I sign up tomorrow and will be all set."
