The Mapleton Fire Department says a vehicle was destroyed this morning after catching fire.
The incident happened at the intersection of Moose Ridge Road and State Road, according to officials.
Fire Chief Rich Wark says that the vehicle was an old Jeep being driven by Vaughn Littlefield of Mapleton.
Wark says they received the call around 10:35 a.m.
According to the Chief, Littlefield and his wife had just left their home and were heading towards town when they saw smoke and pulled over.
He says that the incident sparked a small grass fire in a ditch, but it was quickly put out once firefighters arrived on scene.
The vehicle was deemed a total loss.
Wark says that the vehicle only had liability insurance.
