Washburn police investigating several reports of vandalism

WASHBURN, Maine - Washburn police are investigating several reports of vandalism that reportedly occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Police began receiving reports Saturday morning involving a number of broken windows throughout the community. At Story Hill apartments' it was discovered a window had been broken out of a door at the maintenance office. Just down the street on Wilder Street, windows were found broken in the barn for the Salmon Brook Historical Society. Police then found several windows broken in the Washburn Rec Department's van parked at the Rec Department. Vandals also broke several windows on school property - at the principal's office, as well as in at least three buses, including one bus that had multiple windows smashed and the front window knocked out. Police say evidence was recovered at a couple locations. The investigation is ongoing. Damage is estimated to be several thousand dollars. Anyone with information is asked to call the Washburn Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
