Woman injured in Orient crash

ORIENT, Maine - A woman was injured this morning after being hit by a logging truck.

Police say 32 year old Robert Grass of Brookton was driving a loaded logging truck north on US Highway 1 in Orient when 63 year old Susan Hanscom of Orient failed to yield at a right-of-way, pulling in front of Grass.

Grass tried to stop his truck but was not able to avoid hitting Hanscom.

When the two vehicles collided, Hanscom's vehicle was spun 180 degrees and came to final rest in the ditch.

Hanscom was trapped and the Jaws of Life were used to extract her from the vehicle. Hanscom was transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Grass was not injured.

The car was totaled in the crash, which is still under investigation.
