Fort Fairfield Potato Blossom Festival: Splash and Dash

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine The Potato Blossom Festival in Fort Fairfield continued on Friday, July 20 with the Splash and Dash, organized by TAMC.

This was the third of three Splash and Dashes of the summer. Around 30 kids brought their swim trunks and running shoes for the event.

The event began with a lap in the swimming pool, then the kids had to throw on their shoes and head out for a half or full mile run.

Jamie Guerrette led the event. She said the goal is to promote healthy habits and inspire kids in the area to get out and exercise.

"This is a great opportunity for kids to get out and trying something," Guerrette said. "Some kids have done one, two, or three this summer, so we're excited to bring the kids something new and the kids are loving."

One of the kids who completed the "Triple Crown" of Splash and Dash's was Mia Shaw. While holding her Triple Crown trophy, she said she had a blast doing the races.

"It's a really good opportunity to be able to go to all the towns and swim in all the pool," Shaw said.
