Presque Isle graduate Hannah Graham is in the middle of her final season at Bowdoin College. She spent some time in the County over Christmas and talked about her career with the Polar Bears
The Bowdoin Polar Bears are looking for another deep run in the NCAA Division 3 playoffs. Graham had a great career in a Wildcat uniform vying for Regional and State titles during her four years in High School. Now she is battling with the top teams in Division 3 Bowdoin lost in the finals to Amherst last year. Presque isle grad Hannah Graham is a member of the team and says the team is focused on returning to that game
Hannah Graham:" I think that people are really hungry to get to that point. We are emphasizing the process this year. Each day we need to get one percent better. We can't think of the end goal all the time. I do think that being in that situation last year and coming up short is really motivating."
Graham and her fans will have quite a treat in just a couple of weeks when Bowoin makes the trip to Presque Isle to play UMPI on January 14th
Graham:" Super exciting. My coach tries to make it a point to play close to each player's home if she can. I remember her texting me saying they were playing at UMPI very exciting."
The Bowdoin College Senior was given quite an honor at the start of the year. She was named a captain of the team
Graham:"We have an election process and you run for team captain.
My teammates vote and give me feedback. Strengths and weaknesses from the players and coaching staff. That was a learning process, but being recognized by my teammates was a great honor."
Graham will be wrapping up her playing career in the next couple of months, she says she made the right choice in going to Bowdoin. Another in a long line of high school players who have continued success in college
Graham:" I looked at other schools and my decision was Bowdoin.I am really happy there and I feel it was a great fit for me."
