Six Straight for Panther Cheerleaders

MARS HILL, Me. (WAGM) - The Panthers captured another Class D State Championship on Saturday in Augusta. This is the sixth in a row for the Panthers and the 11th in 12 years. Even though coaches Sami Allen and Janice Lyons been in this position for over a decade, the nerves were still there for Lyons as the girls went through their winning routine.

"You're so nervous, before they begin and you don't know, we knew they were tired from the long trip and we knew their nerves were up because they wanted to win so badly," Lyons said. "With each second that goes by and you know that they're doing great you just get more and more excited."

And for one of the seniors, she knew that they nailed it.

"We felt pretty good, I definitely did because I started crying because I thought we did so good," Senior Natalie Corson said. "Actually like everyone was crying, even one of the girls on our team who usually is not an emotional person starting crying."

Congratulations again to the Panthers. For Central Aroostook, both Basketball teams are the top seeds in Class C in this year's tournament.
