There will be some major ski races held in the County in March of 2019. The Fort Kent Outdoor Center will host the New England Nordic Ski Association Eastern Cup High School Championships.. Athletes from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York qualify for the races at State Competitions and then will travel to Fort Kent for the Eastern Cup Finals. This will be held on the same course that hosted the State Nordic Class B and C Championships last year. The Eastern High School Championships are March 15th to 17th. Also two weeks later the Nordic Heritage Center will be hosting the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Super Tour Finals and L.L. Bean U.S. Long Distance National Championships. This event will be held on March 28th to April 2nd. U.S. Nordic team members are expected to compete in Presque Isle - including the first American Nordic gold medalist, Jessie Diggins, who along with relay partner Kikkan Randall, struck gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The Super Tour Finals have been held in County in Presque Isle and Fort Kent on four other occasions.
