UMFK volleyball prepares for Natoinals

The University of Maine Fort Kent volleyball team will be in action on Thursday in the USCAA National Volleyball Championship in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Bengals are the top seed in the four team championship
(Selina Castro):" I am really excited this is my first time experiencing going in as the number one seed. The girls worked really hard to get there. We had some challenging moments, but I think we overcame them. I am really excited to see how we do."

The Bengals made school history last year advancing to the Final Four for the first time ever. They return four players from that team.

Castro:" I am sure they are really excited. They are pumped up and motivated and we are all on the same page thinking we are going to be able to take it this year."

This year there are just four teams playing in one round robin bracket with the top two advancing to the championship. Castro said even with few teams in the USCAA Division One bracket it will still be a very competitive tournament with any of the teams having a chance to win the title.

Castro:" I think St Mary's of the Woods took second place the last couple of years. They are ready to come and take it, but we are just as ready."
