The University of Maine Presque Isle men's basketball team hitting the road for a game against NCAA Division 1 University of Maine. Coach Dan Kane says that playing a D I team is a great recruiting tool.

Dan Kane:"When we are talking to recruits we always talk about who we play what conference we are in. Who we play Non Conference this year when we were recruiting late we were able to tell kids we will play in an auditorium that sits five thousand people and you will play against a D I team and they get excited about that.

The Bears have struggled over the last few years when they take on other Division I schools, but the athleticism at that level can cause problems for teams who play at the Division 3 level

Kane:"They are still Division I atheltes. They played Georgetown last week and in our video scout when the guys watched it they watched Georgetown coached by Patrick ewing and that was pretty cool. Even though they are strugggling a Divison one team is still a Division 1 team.

Members of the team have had this date circled on the calender and that they have talked a lot about taking on the Bears.

Kane:" They are really excited. After our last game everyone was really pumped to go to Bangor and play in front of hopefully a big crowd and see how it goes."

The Owls coach says that they are not going to change a whole lot in their offensive scheme when they take the court at the Cross Insuurance Center this evening

Kane:" We are going to give it all we have. We are not going to be intimidated we are going to try and keep them off the boards and limit our turnovers.
We are going to do what we do on offense not going to change our game . On defense you always make changes depending on who they are playing to match up with them. We are going to go out and play our game and see what happens."
