Washburn boys showing improvement

The Washburn Beavers are battling for a playoff spot. The Beavers are currently in 11th 4 tenths of a point behind Machias for the final playoiff spot. . Coach Mike Hartford says the team came into the year looking for improvement.
(Mike Hartford):" The returning players from last year. They put a lot of time after the season last year and through the summer and came back focused on doing something different this year then how it went last year.

(Noah White):" So far we have done a good job of working together better and finding our cohesiveness."

The players are also looking for consistency and to put 32 minutes of aggressive basketball together

Noah White:" I want us to be more aggressive and have more fun playing. When we have fun playing things start clicking and going right and that is when we start playing better."

(Aidan Churchill):" Trying to keep the team in line sometime. Control the offense and keep it going."

Hartford said that he has a senior laden team, but many of the team members just joined the team as Juniors and they spent a lot of time working on the fundamentals with the inexperienced team

Hartford:" One of the biggest things we have been struggling with is turnovers and missed free throws. When we look back at some of the games that were close our problem was shooting free throws. Make the short easy pass. It might not seem it is going to amount to much but it not going to be a turnover. It is going to be more effective than the flashy pass that happens to get where you want it to go."
