Two county after school programs are the first of their kind in the state

The county is now home to two afterschool programs that are the first of their kind in the state of Maine. Champions after school program is now in Houlton and Presque Isle..and as News Source 8's Ashley Blackford learns, afterschool care is something that's needed here in the County.

As we get closer and closer to spring, officials with school departments around the County are hoping that means the weather won't threaten the school calendar anymore than it has. Surprisingly though, even though it's certainly been a snowy winter, local superintendents say at this point, the end of the year won't be affected a whole lot. Katie Zarrilli reports.

Champions after school program is now in Houlton and Presque Isle.

A decision by the town of Madawaska to double the appraisal value and thus double the taxes of Twin Rivers Paper Company has mill officials displeased. They're concerned with the value and how it was calculated...and concerned about how this will limit the mill going forward. Earlier this month we gave you the town manager's perspective, tonight we hear from leaders at the mill.
