UMPI gets new Medical Laboratory Tech training center

The 200 thousand dollar center will provide UMPI's Medical Laboratory Technology students with a space that simulates a hospital setting for completing their intensive clinical traning. This in turn will help to address healthcare workforce needs in the state. Before this, MLT faculty and students shared a lab with other science faculty and students. The state-of-the-art equipment for the center was purchased using multiple grants and donations. Leigh Belair is the MLT program co-director. She says her program is continually growing- and that's a big reason they needed this space. She says she and students are thrilled to have this training center.
