UMPI gets new Medical Laboratory Tech training center

The 200 thousand dollar center will provide UMPI's Medical Laboratory Technology students with a space that simulates a hospital setting for completing their intensive clinical traning. This in turn will help to address healthcare workforce needs in the state. Before this, MLT faculty and students shared a lab with other science faculty and students. The state-of-the-art equipment for the center was purchased using multiple grants and donations. Leigh Belair is the MLT program co-director. She says her program is continually growing- and that's a big reason they needed this space. She says she and students are thrilled to have this training center.

An agreement between McCains Foods and EFD makes staffing easy at the firehouse

An agreement between McCains Foods and the Easton Fire Department enables employees who serve as firefighters the ability to leave work when needed to respond to a call. Richard Wark, Fire Instructor for the Maine Fire Service Institute, says it's a unique plan, making Easton's volunteer fire department one of the few in the state that's fairly well staffed.

Going green to save some green in Limestone

Going green to save some green! That's what the folks over at the Limestone Water and Sewer District are doing. A presentation was held earlier today to unveil their solar panel project. Chuck Kelley, trustee for the district, says construction got underway last fall and was completed this winter.
