200 students from across the County celebrate Aroostook Right to Read

Close to 200 students from across Aroostook County gathered to celebrate Aroostook Right to Read. Students were honored at the Young Authors event by having their stories or illustrations published in the Anthology of Young Authors. New Sources 8's Zachary Tardie has more on this.

Town of Houlton awarded $95,000 for culvert replacement project

The Morningstar Road culvert has been a cause for concern for almost a decade now. Back in 2010 it was identified as having the most restrictive access because of the targeted impassable culvert. The culvert is at the stream crossing of Morningstar road and Moose Brook, where it enters the mainstream of the Meduxnekeag River. The new funding will go towards taking the culvert out and putting in a bridge.

Big demand for broccoli in The County

According to sixth generation broccoli farmer, Emily Smith, there has been a big demand for their product and as soon as they get it cut, it's going out the door! She adds that the wet spring has helped the crop.

Intervention Aroostook: A New Rehab Therapy Being Offerd in Aroostook County

A new program in the county is helping people cope with substance abuse disorder by using a peer support approach treatment and rehabilitation. Its the focus of this week's Intervention Aroostook with Shawn Cunningham. Please be advised there will be images depicting drug use that may be unsuitable for some viewers.
