St. John Valley reaps benefits of last years BikeMaine event

Fort Kent's Director of Economic and Community Development, Steve Pelletier, says as a host, Fort Kent was able to apply for Bike Maine grant funding. He says the town did a downtown revilatization project last year, which included developing a new public parking lot and installed a couple of new crosswalks. To be ADA-compliant, signage - including flashing pedestrian signs - need to be installed.

Police are asking people to lock their vehicles The Presque Isle Police Department is investigating recent reports of car burglaries in the Cedar Street section of town. Sgt. Lucas Hafford says with the holidays, comes an increase in criminal activity.

UMFK held special flag raising ceremony over the weekend

In honor of Veterans Day, The University of Maine Fort Kent held a special flag raising ceremony Saturday afternoon. The Student's Veterans Association at UMFK invited veterans to join them for the ceremony. Two of those veterans were Leroy McKenzie, an American Legion Americanism Officer of District 17 and Congressman Jared Golden. Both say they feel honored to be included.

Maine forest ranger explains forest service training program

Being prepared for emergencies, like the wildfires in California, requires special skills. Kathy McCarty met with a forest ranger who spent time in Mississippi as part of a Forest Service training program and has more on his experience.
