County healthcare providers open new advocacy center to help kids

County healthcare providers say the opening of a new advocacy center to help children who've been sexually abused is a huge positive in this community. Providers of the Northern Light A.R. Gould hospital say there were huge challenges in treating kids who have experienced sexual trauma in that many of the resources and services were located Bangor south. To now have a site that's county based opens the door to more kids and families getting access to services and treatment to cope and eventually heal the wounds of trauma. ###

Tomorrow nights debate is an important one

We at WAGM are gearing up for an important evening tomorrow night, one that will hopefully help you make an informed decision at the polls on November 6th. We're hosting a second congressional district debate. This is video from the congressional debate in 2016. Aroostook Partnership Advocacy Chair and co-moderator Jason Parent says the second congressional district is one of the races to watch this year...as it's one of the key races that will dictate the balance of power in Congress. In the runnning are republican Bruce Poliquin, who currently holds the seat, democrat Jared Golden, and independents Tiffany Bond and Will Hoar. Parent says it's important for people to hear from all four candidates...he adds that it's important to host a debate up here so that Aroostook County's voice is heard and have the issues we face here come to the forefront of the conversation. He says topics of conversation will include the economy and workforce expansion, the opioid crisis, and health care.
