Scams that target veterans was the topic of discussion for senator Susan Collins today. A hearing this morning was aimed at raising awareness about scams that are common around this time of year. Veterans Day is on Monday, and Senator Collins says often times veterans will receive calls from scammers promising them benefits.

The selection of a location for the proposed Valley Unified School has passed its first hurdle and now will be put before the voters. After two rounds of voting by the panel board, Frenchville is selected as the location. The vote came down between Fort Kent and Frenchville. The vote was 147 to 143. The property size in Frenchville has 70 acres avaible for the new school to be built on. More meetings will be held in the coming days to finalize the exact location of the Valley Unified School. No word yet on when the three communities will vote on the location. We will have more on this story tomorrow night at 6.
